Getting Better by Getting Back to Basics

These days, everyone and their brother has a phone with a built-in video camera. We all make little movies and put them up on social media. But that doesn’t mean that suddenly we can consider ourselves important filmmakers. It’s a skills vs. equipment argument, and you’re in for a rude awakening if you decide that by virtue of messing around with your camera phone you’re on target to submit your stuff to the Sundance Film Festival with a shot at winning a jury prize.

How does this crazy talk apply to the world of sales? Well, if you ask the vendors extolling the virtues of a host of apps, plugins, and gadgets, all you need are the right tools to take your average Jane or Joe sales rep and rocket them overnight to the level of a sales guru with a recognizable brand and a reputation for excellence that others want to emulate. Before you invest in all the bells and whistles, lets take a step back to first.
